RattleBag and Rhubarb

Roadside Attractions

The frogs were in fine parliamentary form this morning. Nothing like a heavy downpour to cheer them right up.

Rabbits curiously absent and hardly a bird in sight or sound save for two guinea fowl pecking on the side of the track.

And that wraps up the wild-life report from the daily stroam.

Here are a few photos taken on walks this week.

  1. Lovely and nice photos. We’re having a huge influx of crickets—they prefer to be indoors it seems. Louise is good at catching them and putting them outside.Have you been to Manhattan? Stay well healthy and sane!

    1. Hi Ingrid – Hard to stay sane, But staying healthy.
Crickets often get driven to seek indoors when the temperature changes. Been going into the city every month. Probably next visit will be next week. Chipmunks are eating the tomatoes!

    1. Thanks Clive. One of the places is a great spot for bird botherers and twitchers. Apparently, 37 distinct species have been spotted in one relatively small area. Mix of trees, water, good habitats. I haven’t seen anything like that number but have seen kingfishers (US style), a scarlet tanager, oriole and have heard wood thrush – I love their flutey music. And this morning a great heron and the mallard ducklings looking all grown up now.

  2. Love the pix. As for frogs being in fine form, you might want to check out my soon-to-be-published (in about 5 hours) new post — at the end, you will find a frog in very fine form. 😉
