Edward Bear and Stochastic Terrorism

As America wakes up this Sunday morning it is confronted with the horror of two major acts of domestic terrorism. America is being dragged down – bump, bump, bump on the head – as the atrocities mount up. It is  thanks to a white nationalist race-baiter squatting in the White House. And a Republican Party rendered inert and spineless by a deadly combination of extreme ideology and money from the Russian funded NRA.

Donald Trump is a stochastic terrorist and he is responsible for instigating hatred and violence.

America is Edward Bear being bumped down the stairs. Except this is no children’s story. This is reality. People are being targeted and killed. Stochastically. And in cold blood. Unlike the stuffed animal in Milne’s story we do know what to do about it. And we have thought about it and it is not rocket surgery.

It is two things:

  1. Confront the stochastic terrorist responsible for instigating the violence and
  2. Insist that Senate Majority Leader #MoscowMitch allow the Senate to vote on and start passing gun safety measures. The legislation is ready to roll.

And while we are at the name calling stage those two other Russian-backed Senators – #LeningradLindsey and RussianRand (or is that St.PetersburgPaul?) – and their cohorts need to start working on behalf of the American people. This violence and madness must end and that is their job.

Here is the the description of Donald Trump, stochastic terrorist.

And here is the gaslit Edward Bear stunned into thinking there are no solutions.

  1. Mrs Holford,
I read your article ‘For the sake of exemple’ with great interest. It’s the story of Herbert Morris who was put to trial and buried in Poperinge.
I hereby request your permission to include that article in ‘Aan de Schreve’. This is a magazine that mainly publishes articles about local history.
Hoping that you will give a favorable answer to my question, I thank you in advance.
    Yours sincerely

    1. Dear Willy Tillie – You have permission to include “For the sake of example” – the story of the execution of a boy soldier from Jamaica https://www.josieholford.com/example/ – in the magazine of the Heemkring Aan de Schreve

(There is another post about his regiment – the British West Indies Regiment and what happened to them in WW1 Taranto here: https://www.josieholford.com/no-parades/ )

Thank you for contacting me and I look forward to reading more about the work of the Heemkring Aan de Schreve.

  2. This is all so incredibly distressing when I know so many of you would dearly like to see changes to the gun laws in America. I hate to think what life in the UK would be like if just anybody could purchase firearms from the local shops. There would probably be drunken idiots shooting each other in the pub every Saturday night.

Excellent piece, Josie. I hadn’t previously come across the term ‘stochastic terrorism’, but I’ll certainly remember it now!

    1. It does. And each time it does you think: this time, maybe this time, something will happen and the Republican gun enablers/ NRA lackeys will come to their senses. And then you remember Sandy Hook. And you think – if that was not enough to change the hearts-and-minds of the thoughts-and-prayers crowd then nothing will be.

Everyone now must know this is caused not just by the person who pulls the trigger but by the easy unfettered access to guns. Does that make it more hopeful? And what about the fact that as a nation we have to come to terms that we have a race-baiting white nationalist terrorist in the White House. Where does that leave us? Or lead us?
